This issue is why this site was created so that people who are vegan can find a way of utilising and relating to permaculture principles. There are two aspects to a vegan permaculture project that help address this: 1) Creating plant based alternatives to animal inputs – for example creating composts and mulches using plant materials or planting nitrogen fixing crops. 2) Thinking about slightly different ways to work in harmony with animals. For example encouraging bees to create hives but not taking their honey or creating habitats for wildlife or rescue animals but not killing and eating them.
